ADE is Europe’s most important destination for the dance music. This year it is an event designed not just for industry big wigs but also for fanatical clubbers. Hailed as ‘the Miami of Europe’, ADE is the place to make a big noise and get noticed and this year Defected Records and Strictly Rhythm, two of the worlds best know House labels have something to shout about.

The first thing you should know is that the big brother to all house labels Strictly Rhythm is out of its teens and into its 20’s, Defected Records itself celebrates its 10 year birthday. Both labels have stamped their own personality and have made indelible marks on the world dance scene.

Some of you will recollect the original Defected 10th anniversary party in London at the Ministry of Sound, where Defected’s biggest vocalist sang the label’s best loved tracks. It was a truly spine tingling moment seeing House music’s royalty sing LIVE.

Here is your chance to experience it again with a whole new roster of legendary artists from the Strictly and Defected. In true Mafia style this is like two of the scenes original family’s getting together. House music’s biggest and best loved vocalists will be specially flown over to perform. Barbara Tucker will be singing ‘Beautiful People’ and ‘Most Precious Love’, the mighty Steve Edwards ‘World, Hold On’ and Marc Evans ‘The Way You Love me’. Ben Westbeech will also sing Live and DJ too. All the artists will all be backed by the Defected/Strictly all stars and a special 5 piece band led by Robin Faze Action.

Coupled with appearances from both The UK’s and Holland’s strongest DJ talent including appearances from The Shapeshifters, ATFC, Hardsoul, Chocolate Puma and Michel Cleis, this is sure to be a memorable event at this year’s ADE.

Strictly Rhythm.

Soon after opening its doors Strictly Rhythm quickly gained a following among club DJs thanks to a series of high quality underground tracks by the likes of Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry and Kenny Dope. In 1994 Strictly notched up its first crossover hit with Real 2 Real’s ‘I Like To Move It’, a feat it was to repeat throughout the rest of the decade with Wink’s ‘Higher State of Consciousness’, Ultra Naté’s ‘Free’ and Wamdue Project’s ‘King of My Castle’. In between the hits the label provided a steady output of club tracks by a huge array of respected artists from Barbara Tucker and Masters At Work to Erick Morillo, Josh Wink, Armand Van Helden, Danny Tenaglia, David Morales and DJ Pierre. Almost every house producer of repute who was active in the 1990s is represented in the catalogue.

Defected Records.
If you’ve ever been to a club, bar or house party where the DJ was playing House music, the likelihood is that at least one of the records you heard was signed to Defected. For the last 10 years they’ve been releasing tunes that have defined the scene and are now unquestionably the global authority within the genre.
Every year, more than half a million people attend Defected In the House events around the globe. Operating in more than 40 countries, Defected are the most internationally recognisable dance brand in the world with a reputation built on the love of music. With millions of records sold globally, the label has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, and is responsible for introducing talents such as Bob Sinclar, Junior Jack, ATFC, Sandy Rivera and Copyright to an ever-hungry audience.
Where other labels have struggled to keep up with a volatile market, Defected have embraced the prevalence of the digital age. They have also initiated some of the most reliable brands in the compilations market, including the ‘In the House’ compilation series. In more recent years, Defected has formed strong affiliations and solid partnerships with some of the most established labels in the game including seminal imprints Strictly Rhythm, Subliminal, Junior Boys Own, Slip & Slide .
From its first release to its last, Defected’s sound has been deeply rooted in classic soul and disco, and while their sound has no doubt developed over the last decade with techier signings, this firm belief in the essential musicality of house has never faded.
