Amsterdam, October 28th 2009 – The results of the 2009 DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll are in. Like in 2007 and 2008, Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren holds the number one position in the renowned popularity poll. For the third year in a row, he’s the holder of the ‘Number one DJ of the World’ title.
Armin van Buuren’s popularity keeps rising. After 13 years of professional music involvement he’s released three artist albums, has 28 million dance lovers listening to his weekly radioshow ‘A State of Trance’, set up two successful compilation series and is the proud owner of two sublabels at his co-owned record company Armada Music. Besides winning several awards for his production and DJ work he’s been listed in the DJ Mag Top 100 since 2001, where he’s been in the top 3 since 2003.
This year, more than 300.000 votes from 263 different countries were cast. Being voted number one DJ for three years in succession, isn’t something Armin ever expected, saying: »I’m quite simply the luckiest guy on the planet right now. To be able to do what you love every day and to get so much back from the crowd you love is a huge blessing. A hattrick in the world famous DJ magazine is something I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams. Thank you, thank you, thank you…”
At the moment, van Buuren’s working on a follow-up to his third artist album ‘Imagine’ and has just released the fourth edition of his ‘Universal Religion’ series, along with a new single, ‘Broken Tonight’ with Dutch singer VanVelzen.
